A NEW ARTIST IN NEW YORK

A wonderful new show of paintings opened in new york last week. Maria arroyo – diamond, the artist, is new to new york. She is no new to art. She grew up in mexico. She studied with several fomous artists in Mexico City. Five years ago, she married Ted Diamond and they were moved to Italy. While they were living in italy, she was quite popular. She also won several important awards.

Ms. Arroyo-diamond is a small, very quite person. But her paintings are very large. They are full of color and excitement. She explained that the color she used are mediterrancan colors. In the mediterrancan area the sky and the sea usually very bright blue. The houses are often pinks, yellow or orange.

In her paintings, the excitement comes partly from these colors. It also come from her style. She likes to the paint large shapes that seem to move. Ms. Arroyo- diamond’s paintings do not show us the real world. Instead they show us her feelings the world.
